PRESS: Banned online e-cigarette sales double to 23 bln rbl 2021

MOSCOW, Dec 29 (PRIME) -- Illegal online sales of electronic cigarettes Russia have doubled to 23 billion rubles in 2021, with the shadow business being highly profitable and the margin reaching 150%, business daily Kommersant reported on Wednesday.

Online sales of illegal electronic nicotine delivery systems will amount to 46 million devices in 2021 for 23 billion rubles in total, which is twice the 2020 figure, according to a research by service Gorodissky IP Security.

The analysts calculated that the budget will not receive 4.2 billion rubles because of the illegal sales in 2021.

In 2022, illegal sales of the electronic nicotine delivery systems can rise to 28.9 billion rubles with the budget to lose more than 5.2 billion rubles, the experts said.

The law bans online sales of electronic cigarettes with nicotine, unlike the devices for smoking with no nicotine.
